Artist Statement
My work contains realistic imagery constructed both digitally and by hand. I mostly use printmaking and illustration as methods to communicate prominent subjects and chapters of my life. Drawing and photography have been fundamental in developing my visual language, while linocut, serigraphy and lithography have allowed me to expand upon my sense of color and narrative concepts. I’ve found that hand-printing images creates a product with a personalized layer that is essential to my self-reflective theme.
The stylistic inspiration for my work comes directly from comic books and films, as they are both forms of creative media that parallel my storytelling objectives. More recently, my life in Philadelphia has also influenced the way I work, and many images I photograph in urban environments often serve as the basis for compositions.
